Illinois Preservationists plead to save building

Eight people pleaded with the Quincy Public Library board Tuesday night, hoping to convince the organization to preserve the former Royal Printing building at 514 Jersey. The library board agreed last month to buy the building, which sits immediately west of the library at 526 Jersey.

Local preservationists fear the structure — built in 1854 and one of the oldest church buildings in Quincy — will be torn down for a parking lot.
